DAIM was born in Lueneburg and soon drawn to nearby Hamburg by the deeply rooted art scene's subculture. In 1989 he began his career as an artist and spray can virtuoso. His change in moniker played a major role in the development of his modern street calligraphy. International art, as well as lecturing work, soon led him to collaborations with transnational artist groups. DAIM began to develop a diversity of skills, which enabled him to grow beyond his roots.
