Daim

Those who truly understand graffiti, as a form of art, within the public space of perception should be reminded that within a list of the world's most renowned graffiti artists, DAIM is among equals. DAIM was born in Lueneburg and soon drawn to nearby Hamburg by the deeply rooted art scene's subculture. In 1989 he began his career as an artist and spray can virtuoso. His change in moniker played a major role in the development of his modern street calligraphy. International art, as well as lecturing work, soon led him to collaborations with transnational artist groups. DAIM began to develop a diversity of skills, which enabled him to grow beyond his roots. Concrete walls were replaced by canvas, while spray cans from a hip-hop shop were now often amended by mouse clicks in Photoshop. Two-dimensional pictures evolved into three-dimensional graphics with seemingly unlimited depths and perspective only to finally become sculptures leaving behind the confinement of flat surfaces entirely.
